Information and Media Minister CHUSHI KASANDA has applauded Choma Maanu Radio Station for its consistency in being a leading media institution in credible News reporting and information dissemination to the general citizenry.
Speaking when she toured Choma Maanu Radio Station in Choma district of Southern Province, MS. KASANDA says Choma Maanu Radio Station plays an important role in sensitizing, informing and educating the community on number of issues government is implementing in the country.
And Choma Maanu Radio Station Manager CORNHILL CHOOLWE thanked the minister for immensely recognizing the radio station.
Mr. Choolwe told the minister that she is the only minister in charge of Media ministry to visit the Radio station since it was founded in 2016.
The Information and Media Minister is in southern province for her two day official visit to inspect various radio stations in the province.
She also took time to visit other radio stations.
And after her visit, she later traveled to Livingstone to continue for her duty.
Meanwhile, Choma Maanu Radio station management is disturbed with reports that some named UPND district officials attempted to barricade the minister from visiting the station on account that it is aligned to the former ruling party, the Patriotic Front (PF).
And the radio station management has since refuted the allegations saying the ploy by the named party officials is aimed at dragging the name of the radio station into disrepute.
This came to light after a concerned individual discovered that the station was initially not on the list of Radio stations to be visited by the minister.
The radio station was only visited after it was made clear by its reporter that the station is a non-partisan media institution and in particular a broadcasting Station.
The station management has however advised the ruling party in the district to desist from aligning the radio station to any political party as it is a media institution aimed at disseminating information to the public.
Upon her visit to the radio station, Information and Media Minister CHUSHI KASANDA assured Choma Maanu Radio Station management of government support despite the district party officials trying to barricade her visit
