CROCODILE KILLS SIAVONGA’S NAMOMBA MAN

A man believed to be in his age 40 to 45 in Namomba village of Siavonga district in Southern province has died after he was attacked by a crocodile whilst on a fishing spree on the shores of Zambezi River.
Confirming the sad development to Choma Maanu NEWS on Tuesday morning, Siavonga Town Council Chairperson his worship GIVEN KWAPU described the victim as SIKOPANO, a Nanyanga ward UPND publicity secretary.
HON. KWAPU said Mr. SIKOPANO was fishing and the crocodile grabbed him from his canoe and pulled him into deep waters and then met his fate.
The body of the deceased has not yet been retrieved from the river.
Siavonga district has the highest number of crocodile attacks with many people falling prey to the deadly predators every year.
The Zambezi river is however not only the source of water for the people in this district, but also a source of income as many people depend on fishing for a daily living.
And Siavonga Town Council Chairperson his worship GIVEN KWAPU bemoaned the increase of human attacks by reptiles along Zambezi river.
HON. KWAPU said cropping the crocodiles is the only solution to reducing the increased number of human attacks by reptiles in river banks of Zambezi river as many lives have been lost.
